Know Your Benefits
If you're an 11th grader in a California public high school, now's the time to take advantage of the Early Assessment Program. You'll find out your senior year what areas you need to work on to get ready for CSUDH college English and mathematic classes. Plus, you'll have your whole senior year to build those skills before you start at the university.
EAP participation can also mean taking fewer tests and remedial college courses, with:
- Exemption from the required CSU English and/or Entry Level Mathematics Placement Test, for all CSU campuses
- Exemption from remediation course at any CSU campuses
- The opportunity to earn an exemption from the CBEST exam
- The opportunity to earn an exemption from CCC Placement Tests
Exemption from CSU Placement Tests
If you're planning on attending CSUDH or any CSU campus, you may earn an exemption from taking the required CSU English and/or Entry Level Mathematics Placement Test by completing one of the following with the indicated results or scores:

Getting Started With EAP
Participation in EAP is free and easy. To get started, you'll be asked to take the EAP test administered to 11th graders during the spring semester at your public California High School. The test includes multiple choice questions at the end of the California Standards Test (CST), covering Language Arts and Algebra II or High School Summative High School Mathematics. An essay response to a prompt is also used as part of the English/Language Arts test.
When you take the EAP test, be sure to mark both "CSU" and "CCC" options to have your results released to the California State University campuses and California Community Colleges. This will also let you see your test results online, and make it easier for CSU campuses to match your EAP scores to your application so that you can be exempted from the CSU English and/or Entry Level Mathematics Placement Tests.

English Language Arts: 15 questions plus one essay prompt administered separately in March.
Algebra II and Summative High School Mathematics: 15
2. How many California Standards Test (CST) questions are assessed?
English Language Arts: 50
Algebra II or Summative High School Mathematics: 42
3. Who is eligible for the EAP tests?
California public high school 11th graders who are enrolled in:
English/Language Arts and/or Algebra II or higher class.
